As they grow up together and grow closer, Poppy and Rune realize that they have a love that’s special. One that’s once in a lifetime. But when Rune is forced to move back to Norway and Poppy has secrets of her own to keep, their love is tested for better or for worse.
Review | Heidi Dischler
Well, I’ll tell you one thing, I understand why some people hate this book. It is full of so many clichés and tropes that you have to wonder whether or not the author just looked up a list of the most popular ones and made them into a book. Here’s the thing, though, they’re clichés and tropes for a reason. Because they’re good. People have learned what makes writing good and while they’re overused, so many clichés are what make a book spectacular.
I devoured this book. I loved this book. I cried for this book. I literally never cry for books. The last time I did that was probably over seven years ago. I don’t take books lightly that make me cry because I know there is good writing there to make you feel those intense emotions enough to cry. It was beautiful and Poppy and Rune’s story is one of my favorites.
I love that Poppy and Rune’s romance stemmed from their childhood romance. I think those are the best kinds. I did find Rune to be a little overdramatic at times, but hey, he’s only a teenager so it made sense. They were absolutely adorable together and their feelings were palpable, which is why it made me so emotional in the first place.
Overall, if you don’t like stories that have clichés in them or overused tropes, then this is definitely not the novel for you. However, if this doesn’t bother you and you read strictly for story and characters, you’ll love this story. The romance is incomparable. It’s so freaking beautiful that you will most definitely cry.
