Book Review: Below Zero by Ali Hazelwood
Following a stranded NASA scientist in the arctic, this novel is sure to give you what you’re looking for on a romance kick. Especially if you want a short, quick, fun read. One of three STEM novellas by Ali Hazelwood, my Below Zero review will not be the last that you see of these STEM adventures, I can promise you that.
Book Information
Hannah is in a really bad situation…. One that involves her being stranded in sub zero conditions without a rescue team to come and help her. But when her arch nemesis, Ian, tells her that he’s on his way to rescue her, she has to put aside her pride in order to be rescued. After all, she’d most certainly freeze to death if she didn’t.

A super quick read by Ali Hazelwood that will not disappoint you if you’ve liked her other books. The only thing that is slightly disappointing is you can tell that Ali Hazelwood has a type. A type of love story. A type of man…. I’m not gonna lie, her obsession with huge, tall, big men is kind of baffling. Not to mention that said huge, tall, big man must be the arch nemesis of the leading lady. Like I said, if you liked her other books and don’t mind reading something very similar to the ones you’ve read before, you’ll like this.
As always, I love her characters obsessions with STEM careers and whatnot. I find it so refreshing to be focusing on science within romance. Ali Hazelwood’s characters are as fun-loving as ever, but I definitely wasn’t as enthralled as I have been before because of the similarities you can draw out from her previous characters to the ones you’re reading about. Her writing, though, is always engaging, so if you enjoyed this novella, definitely check out Love on the Brain or The Love Hypothesis.
Overall, if you’ve enjoyed Ali Hazelwood before and don’t mind a very similar algorithm for future novels, you’ll enjoy this. It’s an easy novella to help you turn your brain off and not focus on your own reality. Of course, as always, you also get the bonus steamy scenes that come with reading books by her.
