Book Review: Maybe Now by Colleen Hoover

Your favorite characters are back in this adorable follow-up to Maybe Someday. I’m so glad I got to read and review Maybe Now because it adds this whimsical, happily ever after feel to all of our already adored characters.

Book Information

Maggie, Bridgette, Warren, Ridge, and Sydney are back as Maggie tries to navigate her illness without Ridge, Ridge struggles with guilt as he tries to help her, and Sydney struggles with jealousy as they all try to navigate this new territory. Following Maggie more than anyone else, Maybe Now shows her just what she’s made of and if she’s ready for love again after losing Ridge only months ago.

Alright, here I am reviewing another Colleen Hoover book. Am I sorry? Absolutely not. Should I maybe rename my blog to dedicate it to Colleen Hoover reviews…? Maybe.

Maybe Now follows up with Sydney and Ridge as they navigate their new relationship, and (my personal favorite) Maggie as she navigates her illness without the support from Ridge. I really liked the dynamic that was going on with this story and loved Maggie’s chapters more than anything. While I love Sydney and Ridge, their story just felt so trivial compared to Maggie’s because they already got their happily ever after and she hasn’t.

I’m glad that I read Maybe Not before this because it made everything feel a little more romantic since Warren and Bridgette’s relationship is so… difficult to understand. If I were going to add these two novels to my tier ranking for Colleen Hoover books, they’d probably both be firmly situated in “A Good Read.”

As for Maggie’s romance? It was probably the whole reason I read this book. There were cute pranks, as always, adorable love scenes, and plenty of romance between all the characters, so, in my mind, this novel is pretty solid.

Spoilers Ahead.

The only thing that really made me roll my eyes in this book was the ending. I mean man. Colleen Hoover writes some good endings, but this one was sooo cheesy. I had to stop myself from laughing a few times because, excuse me, everyone getting engaged at the same time after only months of being together? Getting married in Vegas, no less? I had to stop myself because I would’ve started overly criticizing the whole thing….

Overall, I enjoyed this novel. I still love Maybe Someday way more, but this was a cute follow-up and a very easy read. Something that made the weekend a little more relaxing.
