I’ve done it. I’ve finally done it. Through The Duke and I, The Viscount Who Loved Me, An Offer from a Gentleman, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, To Sir Phillip, With Love, When He Was Wicked, It’s in His Kiss, and now On the Way to the Wedding. I have now read A through H of the Bridgerton clan. On the Way to the Wedding was definitely one of the better ones, but I think I’ll have to make a post of my favorite to least favorite Bridgerton books. As far as the plot for this one, I think it went over really well—if not a little slow at times—but I really liked the characters as well. Lucy had to be one of my favorite characters in all of the Bridgerton books. She was rule-driven, but still knew how to do what’s right. Gregory was the perfect balance for her of laid-back and charming.
Spoilers ahead.
So, as far as spoilers go, Lucy’s family drama was predictable but still pleasing in the sense that it made me feel satisfied as a reader. Dear Lord, though, her uncle and her fiancé’s father were absolutely disgusting. It made me squirm just thinking about the mention of how (no matter what, even if it was the father who had to do it) Lucy would have an heir. Like, gross. Let me just go puke real quick.
Overall, I enjoyed this book a little more than some of the other Bridgerton books, but I don’t really feel like there’s that much to say about it. There’s romance, there’s one character who fights their feelings, and then, of course, there’s the bad guy who tries to rip them apart. I knew what I was getting into reading this book and yet I always enjoy the romance and the drama! Now I can’t wait for season 2 of Bridgerton 🙂
