Taking place right after the events of Defy MeReveal Me is another novella from Kenji’s point of view. Check out my full review for Reveal Me by Tahereh Mafi below!

Book Information

Kenji is just trying to survive after navigating through Juliette’s attempted takeover of the Reestablishment, getting kidnapped, and falling for Nazeera. He is at his breaking point and isn’t sure he can go on anymore. But more is still in store for the rebellion and the war isn’t over just yet…

Review | Heidi Dischler

This novella was okay… but honestly I wasn’t that interested in it. I felt superrrr bad for Kenji and all of his burnout and mental issues in this novella, but I can’t say I have much of an emotional attachment for him and Nazeera.

Basically we pick up right where Defy Me left off but from Kenji’s POV. We learn a lot about Kenji’s struggles with all that’s been happening and his total exhaustion. There’s also a bomb dropped at the end, so I’m curious to see how this will continue in Imagine Me.

Other than that, I like Kenji, but his romantic plot line is meh. This is a novella, so you’re basically just reading to see your favorite characters again, not for anything with substance.

Overall, I would have to rate it a 3.5/5 rounded up for all social platforms. Kenji is awesome, you get one bomb dropped at the end of the novella, and a little bit of romance between Kenji and Nazeera. Now I can finallyyyy start the last novel, Imagine Me
