Book Review: Shadow Me by Tahereh Mafi

The first novella from Kenji’s point of view (also with a few revelations before Defy Me), this one wasn’t the worst but it also wasn’t my favorite. Check out my full review of Shadow Me below!

Book Information

Kenji is grappling with the new regime of having Juliette in charge and playing middle man between her and Warner. Not only that, but he’s finding someone who makes him feel things that he didn’t think he’d ever get to feel with another person and he’s not sure how to process everything that is going on.

Review | Heidi Dischler

A very short novella about Kenji’s POV during the last couple of chapters of Restore Me. You don’t really get much new information and not a lot happens. However, you do get one bit of information that really made me feel a whole lot better before I started reading Defy Me

All-in-all, this honestly wasn’t necessary (none of the novellas are if we’re being completely honest), but it was nice to hear from Kenji’s POV to get a little more insight into his character.

Spoilers ahead.

So, the revelation that we do get is that Juliette didn’t actually kill 600 people (thank God). She’s still kidnapped and Warner is also missing sooo now I really need to start reading the next book.

Overall, a little boring. Not much happens, but you do get one piece of information that wasn’t in Restore Me. I enjoyed reading Kenji’s POV, but other than that, this wasn’t really necessary. 3.5/5 stars (a whole half star was given just for finding out about what I mentioned in the spoilers because I needed that reassurance).
