Penny Allen has spent every night since her 10th birthday creating a new, colorful, and detailed scrapbook page to illustrate what her life has been like. Specifically: what her life has been like without her mother. Penny has kept each page—each book—chronicled in her room on a shelf so that when her mother comes back, it’s like she never left at all.

When Penny’s life spirals out of control—breakups, fights with her best friend, and the impossibility of living up to her father’s legacy—she decides that she can’t wait on her mom any longer. So, Penny enlists the help of bad boy Tyler Becks, who is notoriously known for being able to find a girl’s number and address within minutes. There’s only two problems: Tyler wants Penny to pay him and Penny and Tyler have a history. Like, a history that began in diapers and ended with Tyler kissing someone else.
