Book of the Month Pick: Love on the Brain

Ali Hazelwood, nerdy romances, and a girl who works at NASA? Who wouldn’t make this their BOTM pick? And honestly, I’ve seen this book picked more than any of the others. I read The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood and knew that I had to get this one! I’ll let you guys know how it is as soon as I finish it 🙂

Jackpot by Nic Stone

So, I honestly picked this book up from 2nd & Charles because I’ve read it and loved it so much. Nic Stone’s writing is beautiful (and so is that gorgeous cover!), so I knew I needed to have a copy.

This book in a nutshell is about this girl who is trying to find the person with an unclaimed winning lottery ticket in the hopes that they’ll share some of the money with her. It’s a roadtrip book with a boy, so what’s not to love?

One of Us is Next by Karen M. McManus

This is another one of those books I bought to have in my collection. I absolutely adored One of Us is Lying and One of Us is Next was good, too. It’s basically about the same students who got caught up in Simon’s schemes in the first place. Except this time, there’s a copycat killer out to get them.

I’ve read a lot of Karen M. McManus’ novels (the most recent being You’ll Be the Death of Me), and I haven’t found any that stand out as much as her first two.

This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens

I’ve already read this book, too, but this is one of those ones that I loved so much that I felt like I needed to have a copy of it for my library. This book is about a girl who has no luck and goes through life feeling like the unluckiest person in the world. Until she meets a guy who was born on the same day as her, but has all the luck in the world. She is convinced that he stole her luck, and they begin hanging out, learning about their families, and discovering what their luck is all about. Highly, highly recommend!

I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika L. Sánchez

So, this is one of the books that I bought that I haven’t actually read. Although, I’ve heard so many good things about it that when I saw a copy, I had to pick it up.

The title says it all for this book and I’m honestly so excited to start reading I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter!

I Will Always Write Back by Martin Ganda and Caitlin Alifirenka

You know how you always have that one book that you know nothing about but calls to you when you’re at the bookstore? Yeah, this is that book for me!

From what I read on the inside cover, this is about an English assignment to write a letter to someone overseas. What starts as an assignment ends in an extraordinary friendship. The cover drew me in and the description made me buy it!

Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds

Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds is a book I’ve already read. I enjoyed it so much, though, that I wanted to get a copy for my personal library.

This is basically the story of a guy who falls in love with a girl, but knows she’s going to die soon after they fall in love. He is given the chance to go back in time to change their encounter over one day until he gets it right. Think Groundhog Day with Bill Murray. I’m not usually one for time loop stories, but this one was pretty well done if you ask me.

Darius the Great is Not Okay by Adib Khorram

Another book that I haven’t read yet but heard so much about! Darius the Great is Not Okay is one of those books about mental health. I don’t say that lightly because that’s the entire reason I picked it up. I love books that dive deeply into issues that face people every day (not to mention, I just got finished writing my own book about anxiety, panic attacks, and mental health in general called All the Little Things).

The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett by Chelsea Sedoti

Okay, so I’m not gonna lie, I bought this book because of the cover. And because I’ve read it. But mostly because of the cover!! I mean, look at how gorgeous it is! Yellow covers are my absolute favorite.

This novel is about a girl who is obsessed with Lizzie Lovett’s perfect life. So when Lizzie goes missing, this girl does everything she can to find out where she went. What she discovers, though, is all of the hidden secrets behind Lizzie Lovett’s seemingly perfect life.

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

I’ve heard so so so many things about this book and have seen it popping up on my recommendations everywhere. To say that me finally picking up a copy is overdue is an understatement.

This is basically about a boy who is a hopeless romantic and a girl who just wants to be able to live her life the way she wants to. They’re in an arranged marriage, but Dimple doesn’t know it and boy, let me tell you, I’m excited to get started on this one!

Have you read any of these books? Do you have any suggestions for me to buy at my next trip to the bookstore?
