A strange mix of comedy and oddness, check out my full review of You’re Cordially Invited below!
Movie Blurb
When a wedding venue accidentally double books, Margot (Reese Witherspoon) and Jim (Will Ferrell) go head-to-head to plan the wedding of a lifetime for their loved ones. But their aggressive competition and desire to have the best wedding for the ones they love may just jeopardize both weddings in a hilarious and chaotic turn of events…

So, I’m not sure if anyone remembers Bride Wars with Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson, but this movie totally reminded me of that, just with family members of the ones who are getting married. Also, Bride Wars was much better in my opinion. I also just love Anne Hathaway, though.
To get into the review, I think the movie was okay. It wasn’t super great and honestly felt a little too long for what you get out of it, but I did enjoy a lot of scenes. It wasn’t laugh-out-loud if you know what I mean, but I definitely chuckled.
One of our main characters, Jim (Will Ferrell), booked the venue for his daughter (Geraldine Viswanathan) a year in advance and wants nothing more than his little girl to have the perfect day. Especially since she wants to get married in the same place that Jim and his wife got married before they had their daughter. Margot (Reese Witherspoon) also books the venue a year in advance for her baby sister’s wedding, but due to an issue (that seems absolutely insane in the movie if I’m being honest), they don’t realize that the venue is booked already and double book them.
What follows is Jim and Margot trying to give their respective loved ones the best wedding ever while also simultaneously trying to sabotage each other. If I’m being honest, I don’t think I would have laughed if it wasn’t for Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon. Without these seasoned actors, I’m not sure how much I actually would have liked the movie.
Spoilers ahead.
Okay, so, is it just me or was it weird to see Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell kiss??? I feel like the romance came out of nowhere and there was absolutely NO chemistry between the two. Anyone else?
Overall, the movie was okay. It wasn’t bad, wasn’t good, and shouldn’t have been two hours long. I loved my MCs (because who doesn’t love Reese Witherspoon) and enjoyed a couple of laughs. All-in-all, a solid 3/5.
