The Best Books I’ve Read in 2024

After looking at my whole list of books I’ve read in 2024, I’ve narrowed down my favorites. I’m honestly surprised to say that some have changed since I posted what my favorite reads were so far as of July. Being able to look at all of my books together that I’ve read tells me immediately which ones were memorable enough to be the best reads of 2024. Check out the full list (in no particular order) for the best books I’ve read in 2024 below!

The Entire ACOTAR Series (Except A Court of Frost and Starlight...) by Sarah J. Maas

I just ventured into reading my first ever books by Sarah J. Maas this year and boy was I taken aback. The first book, A Court of Thorns and Roseswas seriously amazing, but the second one? Holy shit it’ll take your breath away. I can’t give any spoilers, but this series is basically about humans and faeries and romance and secrets and a lot of badassery. Read A Court of Mist and Fury now and thank me later. A Court of Wings and Ruin is amazing and so is A Court of Silver Flames. Feel free to skip A Court of Frost and Starlight, though…

Tell Me Everything by Erika Krouse

Here it is: my token nonfiction read of the year (this is actually the second one I’ve read, so I’m so proud of me). Tell Me Everything by Erika Krouse absolutely wrecked me. It made me want to scream. It made me want to throw the book across the room. More than anything, though? It made me want to make a difference.

This novel is basically about a private investigator who is investigating a rape culture at a popular football-driven college and how the players often can attack without consequence. Like I said, gut-wrenching.

Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez

I’ve never read a book by Abby Jimenez, but now I can honestly say that I will continue reading books by this author because of how good this romance novel was!! Just for the Summer is about Justin and Emma, who are cursed so that whenever someone breaks up with them, the people who broke their heart find their soulmate right after. So, Justin and Emma agree to date just for the summer to see if they can break their curse and finally find love.

Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera

Wow. Just wow. This is probably one of my top favorite mystery books now because it was just that good. Especially in audiobook. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook production because it is top tier.

This novel is basically about a girl who has been convicted by the court of public opinion (why are people so gross when it comes to judging??) that she killed her best friend. A podcaster comes to town and looks to prove her innocence. There’s a romantic subplot, voices in our main character’s head, and so many threads to follow. Check out my full review for Listen for the Lie here.

Margo's Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe

Completely unique and relevant, this was such an eyeopening read for me in that it made me think of all my biases in a different light. Margo’s Got Money Troubles is as unique as it is funny. This novel is about a girl who has a baby and the father isn’t involved, so she must find a way to support herself and her child. In comes OnlyFans and this is where things get interesting.

Thieves' Gambit by Kayvion Lewis

Literally so much fun to read!! If you like The Inheritance Games, you’ll love this novel. Full of heists, slow-burn romance, and betrayal of allll sorts, this book is sure to have to staying up all night just to finish (that’s what I did!). By far one of my favorite reads this year without a doubt. If you want to know more about this novel, you can check out my review here.

The Girls I've Been by Tess Sharpe

Thrilling and a complete whirlwind of a novel, this will leave you with emotional scars but also will make you laugh. My favorite part about this novel is that it dove into sensitive subjects while also remaining a lighthearted and fun read. I have been meaning to read this for a while and I’m so glad I finally did!! You can check out my full review for The Girls I’ve Been here.

Restore Me and Defy Me from the Shatter Me Series by Tahereh Mafi

So I went through the whole series (novellas included) waiting for that mind-blowing moment of what everyone else was talking about. People rave about this series. The first three are literal international bestsellers, but they didn’t catch my attention as much as Restore Me and Defy MeShatter Me was fine. Unravel Me was a little better. Ignite Me was okay. But the two before the last one? My mind was blown. I absolutely fell in love with Restore Me and Defy Me.  There is so much more world building and substance to these two compared to the others. The first three are still good, just not as memorable as these two. (By the way, I will 100% have to make a ranking video of the Shatter Me series once all of my reviews are published…). HOWEVER, I was about halfway through Imagine Me while writing this post and had to unfortunately exclude Imagine Me from this post…. I was very disappointed in it to say the least.

There you have it. In no particular order of which is better than the others, this is my list of my favorite reads for 2024! If you check out my video, I did mention which one was my number one favorite, though ;).

Which book was your favorite this year?
